TAKE FIVE

Several months ago, I saw a picture of some young people who had been in our church years before. As I looked at that picture, I began to see how many of them had "gone south," and had made poor decisions that put them in a bad situation in life. I almost asked myself, "What can you do?" but then something made me stop. I cried out passionately to God for a way to get better results. I was tired of seeing people fail and not realize their potential in Christ. We serve a great savior, an awesome God, and there must be a solution.

Out of this quest, "Take Five" was born. Simply put, there are five decisions you can make that will take your life from mediocrity to significance. These are big decisions. They are "game changers," if you will. If we could see how much sense each of these decisions made, and if these decisions could be made beforehand, a sort of pre-decision, than they would more likely be kept. I began presenting this idea in the fall of 2009, and have been preaching these five decisions ever since. My hope is that lives will be changed, that promises will be kept, and that God will be glorified. Here are those five decisions.

1. I will make Christ the Lord of my life;
2. I will boss my money around;
3. I will stay sexually pure;
4. I will love my spouse for the distance;
5. I will surround myself with quality people.

The decisions are incredibly simple, but what if we could do this? What would happen if everyone in the church made these decisions?
